Patients must initiate the service, though practitioners can inform them of its availability. These services require an established patient relationship, and Medicare coinsurance and deductible apply, with no geographic or location restrictions.
Medicare Reimbursement Rates for Online Digital E/M Services
Both physicians and nurse practitioners can independently bill Medicare for E/M visits. Non-physician professionals, such as physical therapists and clinical psychologists, can also provide and bill for e-Visits under Medicare.
